The 21 members of a UK-France government-initiated panel aiming to galvanise international biodiversity credit markets have been announced.

The 21 members of a UK-France government-initiated panel aiming to galvanise international biodiversity credit markets have been announced.

Representatives from International Union for Conservation of Nature, Science Based Targets Network and Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures are among them, according to a post by fellow member Philippe Zaouati, CEO of asset manager Mirova on LinkedIn.

In June, the UK and France announced they were planning an advisory panel that would present a concept of a global nature market at the COP28 UN climate summit in Dubai in December with a government-led secretariat.

“The panel aims to catalyse high-integrity biodiversity credit markets, involving both financial actors and Indigenous Peoples and local communities,” Zaouati said.

“The panel will draw lessons from, and build upon existing initiatives, and, as a first step, identify pilotable approaches that will lead the way for others.”

The panel will report at other international forums including the UN Ocean Conference in Nice in 2025, he said.
