The Climate Markets and Investment Association (CMIA) has appointed former Sindicatum director Gareth Phillips as its executive director, replacing Miles Austin, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

The Climate Markets and Investment Association (CMIA) has appointed former Sindicatum director Gareth Phillips as its executive director, replacing Miles Austin, the group said in a statement on Monday.

Phillips was previously a board member at the London-based sustainable finance and services trade group and also chaired the Project Developer Forum while he worked for developer Sindicatum.

Austin, who had served as CMIA executive director for five years, is to join the Global Green Growth Initiative, an intergovernmental organisation supporting developing nations to achieve sustainable economic growth, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

Earlier this month CMIA appointed outgoing Gold Standard chief Adrian Rimmer as its new president for a two-year term.

The group also appointed two new board members: Alexis Leroy, CEO of Allcot Group and Stephen Hibbert, Global Head of Energy & Carbon Efficiency at ING. They replace Fenella Aouane of Standard Bank and Steven Gray of the CarbonTrust.
