California and Quebec will hold their third joint carbon auction on May 21, offering 87.3 million permits at a minimum price of $12.10 each, market regulators said Friday.

California and Quebec will hold their third joint carbon auction on May 21, offering 87.3 million permits at a minimum price of $12.10 each, market regulators said Friday.

The majority of supply will be in current vintages, with 74.98 million 2015 allowances and 1.95 million permits from the 2013 vintage year on sale, regulators said in an announcement.

In addition, 10.43 million 2018 allowances will be offered in an advance auction, it said.

In the previous auction, held on Feb. 18, California and Quebec sold 73.6 million 2015 vintage permits at $12.21, and 10.43 million 2018 allowances at $12.10.
