Job Overview:
Viresco Solutions is seeking a Sustainability Advisor to join our dynamic team. This full-time, mid-level position, based in Canada (with remote work options and potential co-working opportunities), reports directly to the President and Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will lead project management, conduct research and analysis, and develop sustainability strategies for our clients, primarily within the agriculture, food, and beverage industries.

Job Responsibilities
Project/Client Management:
- Lead client engagements focused on developing and implementing sustainability strategies, including supporting progress towards Scope 3 emissions targets.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing tailored sustainability solutions that meet their unique challenges and objectives.
- Collaborate closely with clients across sectors—including agribusinesses, consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies, startups, and NGOs—to align their sustainability goals with industry best practices and regulatory obligations.
- Develop actionable plans and provide ongoing support to help clients achieve measurable sustainability outcomes.
- Facilitate client workshops, coordinate project milestones, and ensure successful project delivery aligned with client objectives.
- Manage project lifecycles from initiation to completion, including timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and quality outcomes for clients.
Technical Analysis:
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices predominantly within the agricultural industries.
- Research policies, initiatives, and tools relevant to sustainability initiatives.
- Conduct GHG quantification procedures using GHG methodologies, calculators, or tools.
- Attend webinars and track current updates in sustainability-forward frameworks, initiatives and guidance bodies related to carbon and nature accounting.
Communication and Reporting:
- Generate project documents, reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Communicate complicated and evolving concepts to diverse audiences in different communication formats.
- Participate in client meetings, webinars and training sessions to support the delivery of sustainability programming and strategy.
- Support project management processes to support client relationships in consulting engagements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 6 years or more experience in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Livestock Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field; OR
- Master’s degree with 3 or more years of experience in similar fields as per above.
- Project Management experience, and proficiency in Project Management tools (Microsoft Project).
- Strong interest and understanding of sustainability, particularly in the fields of agriculture, Livestock, bioenergy, food systems, or forestry with knowledge of industry initiatives.
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles, industry standards (e.g., SBTi, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, WBCSD), and sustainable finance mechanisms (e.g., green bonds, carbon credits).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) with strong analytical skills to interpret and present data clearly.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills and a proactive initiative-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote consulting environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of or experience in scope 3 programs/frameworks (e.g., Value Change Initiative)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- Familiarity with Measurement, Monitoring, and Reporting (MRV) platforms and services.
- Experience with sustainability assessment tools (e.g., LCA software, GHG calculators, SBTi tools).
- Strong interest and work experience in agriculture, particularly crop or livestock production.
- Prior internship or work experience in sustainability consulting, corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, procurement, or related fields.
Other Details:
- Canadian residency and eligibility to work in Canada required.
- Interviews conducted via videoconference.
- Selected candidates will complete brief written and presentation tasks as part of the interview process to gauge practical skills and alignment with our needs.
