The Climate Pollution Reduction Program (CPRP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill two Climate Pollution Reduction Planner (Environmental Planner 4) positions. These positions are located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. These two critical environmental planner roles will be part of the Cap-and-Invest program policy team.

The Climate Pollution Reduction Program (CPRP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill two Climate Pollution Reduction Planner (Environmental Planner 4) positions. These positions are located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. These two critical environmental planner roles will be part of the Cap-and-Invest program policy team.

In these respective roles, you will guide research, analysis and outreach to help inform the agency’s policy determinations related to the Cap-and-Invest offsets program and associated rulemaking and develop legislative recommendations on Cap-and-Invest emissions-intensive trade-exposed (EITE) industrial policy

Your primary responsibilities in this work include:

  • Facilitating and contributing to external working and/or advisory group processes.
  • Identifying and evaluating policy analyses, recommendations or options related to the development and implementation of offset protocols, or EITE policy recommendations to the legislature.
  • Developing written recommendations and proposals related to the respective Cap-and-Invest bodies of work.

Program Mission: The Climate Pollution Reduction Program’s (CPRP’s) mission is to implement policies and programs to reduce carbon emissions in the state of Washington so that the state meets its statutory greenhouse gas emission limits. The CPRP focuses long term, requiring creative and strategic decision making for implementation to achieve broad statewide and interstate success reducing carbon emissions in the state of Washington so residents have a healthy environment and climate.

Please Note: These are both project position that have separate funding end dates – December 31, 2026 (EITEs) and June 30, 2027 (Offsets).

Tele-work options for this position: This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint. This position will be eligible to tele-work up to four days per week.
