Carbon Cap (the “Company”) is an alternative asset management firm based in newly refurbished offices in St. James. The Company manages the World Carbon Fund, which has delivered strong, positive returns over each of the last 5 years from a combination of core and alpha strategies in multiple compliance carbon markets while making a demonstrable impact on climate change. Company AUM is over $500 million following several years of strong growth and our ambition is to double this to $1 billion in the next 12-18 months.
*Junior Execution Trader
In line with this growth the Company are now looking to expand their investment team by recruiting a Junior Execution Trader & Research Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for the majority of trade execution across the strategies and in addition, will work closely with the investment research function in supporting the analysis and development of new models and strategies within this innovative and entrepreneurial team.
Responsibilities:
- Trade Execution: Execute physical and derivative transactions across various compliance carbon markets efficiently and in accordance with fund strategy.
- Order Management: Manage trade orders, ensure best execution, and maintain accurate records in trading systems.
- Risk & Compliance: Ensure adherence to trading limits, internal risk controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Reporting & Analysis: Assist in trade performance analysis, P&L reporting, and support the front office research team with market research and model testing
Candidate Profile:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in trading, execution, or market operations (preferably in carbon markets, commodities, or energy).
- Technical Skills: Strong analytical skills, using various platforms such as Web Ice, Trading Technologies, ICE chat, etc., and proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg, or similar tools. Experience in python is a bonus.
- Knowledge: Understanding of financial markets, particularly futures and options, Knowledge of compliance carbon markets and relevant regulations is a bonus.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in trade execution and record-keeping.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic market environment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
Compensation & Benefits
The role offers a competitive base salary, and the successful candidate would be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, the Company provides private medical insurance, dental cover, and death in service. The role is predominantly office based the successful candidate would be expected to work from the office a minimum of 4 days per week, with flexibility to work from home available for the other day.
