Our client, a pioneering energy investment firm, is looking for a Biomass Proposals Engineer to share their expertise in devising and executing strategic, innovative solutions to complex decarbonisation challenges.

DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for a Biomass Boffin who has a bit of a thing for designing thermal solutions. Do you have experience conducting intricate feasibility studies and an in-depth understanding of the technical elements of biomass projects?

Our client, a pioneering energy investment firm, is looking for a Biomass Proposals Engineer to share their expertise in devising and executing strategic, innovative solutions to complex decarbonisation challenges.

You look for the little details in everything you do, carefully ensuring that each of the technical specifications required by client, supplier and our client, are perfectly aligned. Your background in designing, sizing, and evaluating solutions for industrial heating and cooling processes makes you an excellent fit for this position.

Over the years, you have an embedded understanding of biomass feedstocks, boiler combustion, emission control, and the development of design solutions within these fields. You get a gold medal if you have experience with biogas digestion.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field
  • Honours degree in thermodynamics or mechanical engineering from a reputable university

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in the thermal and biomass industry
  • Design portfolio of previous thermal projects in emerging markets for solid fired steam boilers and cooling solutions in an industrial setting

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and suggest concepts and solutions based on client requirements during feasibility and proposal stages
  • Ensure feasibility studies prevent delays and resolve technical questions before project execution
  • Conduct multiple iterations and variations, including sensitivity analyses, until the final scope is agreed upon
  • Energy and demand analysis, concept design drawings, budget documents (OPEX and CAPEX), current cost of generation and cost savings estimates, CO2 reduction calculations
  • Collect data, review technical offers, and build proposals to support business development until handover for execution
  • Manage technical appendix, including specifications, delivery commitments, and responsibility matrix and define battery limits between all parties including suppliers

SKILLS

  • Phenomenal interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly proficient in design software packages eg. AutoCAD or other CAD software (3D modelling is highly advantageous)
