Our client, a leading investment management firm in the renewable energy industry with a portfolio of over $800 million in capital commitment is looking for a Global Strategic Sourcing Manager to manage their team of in-country biomass specialists.
Your experience in the industry has honed your negotiation skills and perfected your proposal writing and execution ability. You have built and continue to build strong partnerships within the industry, creating a network of biomass professionals.
Through your travels and conversation with these stakeholders, you have developed a working understanding of the densification of biomass.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or finance field from a reputable university
- MBA would be advantageous
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of experience in a procuring capacity, preferably in the biomass industry
- Established network of biomass partners and suppliers highly advantageous
- Experience drafting, negotiating, and carrying out contracts
- Working understanding of the densification of biomass
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive market assessments to identify suitable biomass feedstocks for BECS projects
- Identify and evaluate potential biomass partners and suppliers, and execute supply agreements through negotiation and proposal drafting
- Develop tailored strategies and processes for biomass procurement, storage, processing, transportation, and supply
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to determine the most efficient approach between transportation and biomass processing/densification.
- Formulate ash disposal strategies and establish agreements for ash off-take or corporate social responsibility initiatives
- Continuously optimise sourcing strategies to align with cost and sustainability objectives
- Collaborate with the E&S team to conduct sustainability assessments of the biomass procurement strategy as per board requirements
- Monitor biomass supply costs, sustainability metrics, and quality standards
- Prepare presentations for management and board meetings related to biomass management responsibilities
- Oversee a team of in-country biomass procurement specialists and/or data researchers/analysts

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (English, French or Arabic a bonus)
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Particular affinity for the decarbonisation industry in Africa
