EU lawmakers plan tougher ETS controls on aviation emissions

He sums them up as a detailed plan for making use of existing authorities to extend and accelerate the Obama climate policy trajectory and definitely not a moon shot equal to the scale of the problem.

The shifting fortunes of big coal – A lengthy Reuters special report charts the evolution of the Hobet coal mine in the US state of West Virginia. It shows how over 40 years miners have seen the culture shift from mine knowledge and safety to a focus on the bottom line and taking hefty loans to appease investors, which has ultimately resulted in a very toxic legacy – both socially and environmentally.

Seizures at Disney’s Cambodia REDD zone – Some 100 pieces of luxury wood believed to be from Cambodia’s Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary were seized at the house of a military officer near the Vietnamese border on Friday, officials said. The seizure comes just two weeks after the Walt Disney bought $2.6 million REDD credits as part of a plan designed to protect the sanctuary from illegal logging. (Phnom Penh Post)
