*PREMIUM LISTING - As we are entering a growth phase, we are seeking an experienced Carbon NBS Specialist/Manager to lead the technical development of our projects and support the management of operational teams.

NatureCo is a for-profit, for-purpose organization that delivers nature-based climate solutions for investors, business and other purpose driven organisations to scale up action on climate change and biodiversity loss. We specialise the design and delivery of nature-based carbon projects.

Headquartered in Australia with specialists based around the world, NatureCo works with a global network of partners to deliver high-integrity, high-impact nature-based carbon projects in the Asia-Pacific, Africa and Latin America.

Position overview
As we are entering a growth phase, we are seeking an experienced Carbon NBS Specialist/Manager to lead the technical development of our projects and support the management of operational teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Project management: Leading the planning, execution, and evaluation of NBS projects, including hands-on technical work.
  • Technical expertise and best practices: Provide technical guidance to project managers and analysts as they develop and implement carbon NBS projects.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including clients, partners, government agencies, and local communities.
  • Research and analysis: Stay abreast of the latest research, market trends and best practices in NBS, and integrate findings into project planning and execution. Communicate standard and methodology requirements internally and externally.
  • Monitoring and reporting: Track project performance, assess impacts, and prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Team leadership: Support the management of a cross-functional, international team, fostering collaboration and ensuring that project milestones and goals are met. Actively mentor and train employees of the company including project officers and build the conceptual understanding of non-technical staff.

Your skills and experience

  • Strong experience managing the full life cycle of NBS carbon projects.
  • Experience working with all stages of the Gold Standard and Verified Carbon Standard projects.
  • Technical skills that include a mixture of statistical analysis, remote sensing, carbon modelling, and/or forest biometrics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Experience with GIS and remote sensing technologies is a plus.
  • Strategic thinker with a collaborative mindset, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • A leadership style centred on empowering staff to grow, guiding them to pursue the right goals and scale for their impact.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, forestry, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in managing environmental projects, with a focus on NBS or carbon project management.

This permanent full-time role would ideally be based in Australia or the Asia Pacific region; however, we’re open to other locations to attract the ideal candidate.
