The Head of Carbon will be the strategic lead on carbon projects for ATEC globally - including the formulation and implementation of ATEC’s carbon strategy, leading government relationships and compliance, and managing carbon partnerships.

ATEC exists to decarbonise cooking for all households across the Global South with our patented IoT eCook stoves. 4 billion people across Asia & Africa still lack access to modern cooking – generating 1 gigaton of emissions, more than the global airline industry. ATEC’s patented IoT technology means usage data is converted into 100% data-verified carbon credits – a global first for the sector. ATEC is now expanding across Asia & Africa – working with last-mile distributors and net-zero partners to decarbonise cooking at scale.

The Head of Carbon will be the strategic lead on carbon projects for ATEC globally – including the formulation and implementation of ATEC’s carbon strategy, leading government relationships and compliance, and managing carbon partnerships. The Head of Carbon will be part of ATEC’s international leadership team, which involves collaboration, support and communication across the business. This role is key to unlocking international carbon market opportunities to drive ATEC’s scale across the Global South.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carbon Strategy and Projects

  • drive and execute carbon strategies to convert technology and data to carbon revenue
  • have overall responsibility for setup, development and deployment of carbon projects
  • provide technical guidance and develop process manuals for planning and implementation of carbon projects
  • lead implementation of carbon projects globally

Government relations

  • drive and manage key relationships with government departments in relevant countries to ensure Article 6 project compliance and sign-off
  • manage compliance with country-specific and global carbon regulations

Carbon partnerships and agreements

  • managing carbon partnerships and relationships, including agreements with carbon buyers
  • represent ATEC on external carbon platforms

Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Learning and Adaptation

  • lead monitoring, reporting & verification of ATEC’s carbon projects
  • manage the collection and presentation of carbon impact data for ATEC
  • adapt ATEC’s carbon strategy in line with data, findings and industry changes
  • knowledge sharing and public engagement for ATEC on carbon platforms

Thought leadership

  • serve as an opinion leader and owner of carbon methodologies for ATEC
  • strategically integrate research and learning into ATEC’s business model

Carbon Business Expansion

  • identify, explore and assess expansion opportunities in the carbon sector
  • manage ATEC’s carbon business expansion into new countries and partnerships

Team Management and Collaboration

  • lead, manage and grow a distributed carbon development team reporting to the Head of Carbon
  • collaborate, support and communicate with other members of the international leadership team and across the business

Other activities as determined by the CEO

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years global experience in project management or a leadership role within the climate tech industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in clean cooking solutions and access to carbon markets across Global South communities
  • Proven track record of successfully managing partnerships within the carbon sector
  • Global leadership experience and experience managing remote teams
