Decarbonisation alliance - The Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation and Development Bank of Japan (DBJ) Inc. have struck a five‑year impact partnership to speed up maritime decarbonisation using new financing models. The tie‑up combined GCMD’s pilot project know‑how with DBJ’s transition finance and shipping expertise. It is built on their earlier success with the $35 mln Fund for Energy Efficiency Technologies (FEET), the first retrofit fund to use a pay‑as‑you‑save model, where DBJ acted as lead equity provider and helped design the financing framework.

Canada’s forests are burning faster than its carbon market rules can adapt, leading developers, auditors, insurers, and Indigenous project partners to rethink how to manage fire risk – and what it means to promise decades of carbon storage when past fire patterns are becoming a less reliable guide to future conditions.
  • Tue 01:07
Environmental groups and carbon market researchers filed separate briefs in support of the reversal of a US federal judge’s dismissal of a class action lawsuit claiming consumers were misled by carbon neutral marketing for vaping products.

California wetland carbon storage – The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's Board of Directors has approved the construction and restoration of about 2,800 acres (1,133 ha) of wetlands and upland habitat in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. This is a part of a larger project to transform the Webb Tract, an island in the delta, from conventional agriculture to a multi-beneficial landscape designed to reverse subsidence and reduce flood risk, capture CO2, and enhance the local ecosystem for migratory birds and local species. As well, the construction and restoration of wetlands can generate carbon credits that can be sold in the carbon market or used to offset Metropolitan’s own emissions, said the board.

New member – Peru has joined the Aviation Carbon Market Pact, an international initiative supporting the supply of high-integrity carbon credits eligible under the UN aviation offsetting scheme CORSIA. In a LinkedIn post, the Ministry of Environment said the move strengthens the country's Article 6 leadership while helping mobilise investment and expand international cooperation on carbon markets. Peru's move follows Guyana, Madagascar, the UK, Zambia, and Zimbabwe joining the international pact last month. Through Peru's national registry RENAMI framework, the country allows projects to apply for Letters of Authorisation (LoAs) to achieve CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units (EEUs). The country recently authorised a cookstoves project to transfer emissions reductions to Switzerland, while several Amazon REDD+ initiatives are in the queue to enter international markets.
  • Mon 22:25
Live methodology – Certification body BioCarbon Standard has published BCR0015: Improved Livestock and Grazing Management, a new methodology for carbon projects based on regenerative livestock practices, it announced on Monday. The framework would issue credits to projects under BioCarbon's carbon programme that reduce GHG emissions and improve grazing management and soil health. The methodology's consultation period ended on May.

The unit is designed for commercial-scale, durable CO2 removal and will join other technologies being tested under Deep Sky’s technology-agnostic model, the firm said in a social media post.
  • Mon 15:08
France should develop a dedicated carbon removal (CDR) roadmap and introduce measures to stimulate demand if it is to deliver the roughly 22 million tonnes of CO2 of annual technological removals envisaged under its newly adopted low-carbon strategy, an industry association has said.
