Three-quarters of JI offsets unlikely to have led to GHG cuts -study

Almost 75% of the carbon credits issued under the UN’s Joint Implementation (JI) scheme may not represent actual emission reductions, potentially increasing global emissions by some 600 million tonnes compared to if countries had met their CO2-cut targets domestically, according to a study published by the Stockholm Environment Institute on Monday.

 

EU carbon pares losses on soaring euro as commodity, equity markets reel on China

EU carbon prices recovered losses posted early on Monday on the back of tumbling commodity prices, as a stronger euro helped EUAs finish the day in the black.

 

Guangdong loosens CO2 price control measures

The China Emissions Exchange in Guangzhou on Monday loosened its price control regulations for big bilateral trades in a bid to incentivise trading houses to take bigger positions in the market.

 

India plays down climate responsibility -media

India is only responsible for a small share of historical greenhouse gas emissions and the main responsibility for cutting carbon rests with developed nations, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said Monday.
