- Tue 04:05Virginia data centre deal - Virginia Democrats have reached a budget deal to impose a new energy tax on data centres, reported E&E News. Under the agreement, data centres would face a temporary tax on their power use, but a sales tax exemption for the industry would be maintained. The deal would also reroute nearly half the state’s revenues from regional power sector cap-and-trade scheme RGGI into ratepayer rebates. The agreement needs approval from both legislative chambers as well as Governor Abigail Spanberger (D).
