Poland’s Senate on Thursday rejected a proposal by President Karol Nawrocki to hold a referendum on EU climate policies, including the bloc’s Emissions Trading System (ETS), dealing an early blow to the conservative leader’s efforts to challenge Brussels-backed decarbonisation measures that he says are driving up energy prices and hurting competitiveness.
