- Mon 23:50New call - Paraguay’s environment ministry (MADES) has launched a public tender seeking consultancy firms to develop the country’s National Carbon Markets Strategy and an operational manual for Paris Agreement Article 6. The call is being issued through the ministry’s carbon markets directorate, with technical support from the Global Green Growth Institute and financing from the Carbon Transaction Facility, as Paraguay advances efforts to operationalise its national carbon market framework.
- Mon 23:50Not plugged-in - Ontario Premier Doug Ford has slammed Canada’s Chinese EV deal, which would see the northern country allow 49,000 electric vehicles into its market at a tariff rate of 6.1%, according to the CBC. Ford, who heads up the leading auto-manufacturing province, said the deal threatens the a sector already under threat from Canada’s trade tensions with the US. Canada agreed to slash its 100% tariff on Chinese EVs in return for China reducing tariffs on canola products. The less than 50,000 EVs represent around 3% of new vehicles sold in Canada. More than 50% of imported EVs are anticipated to cost less than C$35,000 within five years.
