- Fri 14:08Pros and cons - Carbon Brief has obtained a leaked copy of an 84-country “informal list” that was said to identify those blocking a fossil-fuel phaseout roadmap at COP30, though the media outlet noted that its analysis casts serious doubt on the reliability of the document. The list shows multiple contradictions: 14 states appear on both the “support” and “oppose” sides, and the entire bloc of the world’s least-developed countries (LDCs) is listed among opponents, even though some of them had publicly backed the idea. One notable country on the list - Turkiye - called its inclusion “wrong”, Carbon Brief said. The leak suggests that the informal list, drawn up by the presidency of the summit, was filled out based on negotiating-bloc membership rather than actual positions, according to the climate news website.
