The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) is the peak union body representing nearly 1.8 million workers and their families.

We are looking for a full-time Senior Policy Advisor to work with the ACTU leadership and affiliated unions to deliver the ACTU Policy on Climate, Energy, & Just Transitions while also looking at what further developments to the policy might be needed to meet the needs of affiliates and members.

About the role:
This position is responsible for providing advice to the ACTU Officers on energy, climate and Just Transition. This role is primarily focused on the implementation of policy and facilitation of affiliates in the further development of the ACTU Energy, Climate and Just Transition policy. This role will also be required, as needed, to contribute to other areas of social and economic policy implementation and development.

This role will need to work closely with affiliates and trades and labour councils on campaigns and projects that can take the ACTU Congress policy on Energy Climate & Just Transition into a reality that delivers positive outcomes for working people and their communities

Essential criteria:
• Relevant experience in union, political or not for profit policy roles
• Relevant experience managing complex working environments and stakeholder groups
• Relevant tertiary qualification in economics, energy, social science, politics, or social policy
• Comprehensive knowledge of the issues involved in climate, energy and just transitions

Desirable criteria:
• Experience working with campaigns to achieve policy outcomes
• Experience working within a federated organizational structure
