Australian bank Westpac’s head of sustainability will become the new CEO of the Investor Group on Climate Change, the group said Friday.

Emma Herd replaces former chief executive Nathan Fabian, and will formally commence in her new role on Aug 15.

Until last year she was part of Westpac’s commodities, carbon and energy trading desk.

“Emma is well known across carbon policy and investor networks in Australia and internationally, having worked in sustainability and environmental practice across the financial services sector,” the IGCC said in a statement.

The group represents institutional investors across Australia and New Zealand managing around $1 trillion in funds, and works to raise awareness of the impact of climate change on financial investments.
