A former senior emissions trader at JP Morgan has joined the proprietary trading arm of London-based investment advisor Curzon Securities as an energy trader, Carbon Pulse has learned.

Andrew Gygax, who was an executive director at JP Morgan until November 2014, joined MVAJET last week and is trading carbon and other energy products.

He joins Mark Owen-Lloyd on the two-man desk after parting ways with JP Morgan, which last year sold its commodities division to Swiss trading house Mercuria.

Prior to his time at JP Morgan, Gygax held senior emissions trading roles at RBS Sempra, Constellation Energy and E.ON UK.

Owen-Lloyd said MVAJET is currently looking to add more staff to its growing energy prop trading desk.
