Former ABN Amro carbon trader Peter de Waal has left Germany-based energy trading firm Investment Synergy Group GmbH (ISG).

“I will remain active in the European carbon market as proprietary trader, primarily trading carbon futures,” de Waal told Carbon Pulse on Monday from Amsterdam.

He set up a one-person flow-trade desk at ISG last October after ABN AMRO closed its emissions trading desk last June, one of several including Deutsche Bank and Barclays to have exited the sector in recent years due to low ETS prices and increased regulation.
