Reputex is looking for an analyst to join our Australian carbon market and advisory team. Based in Melbourne, the role will work to develop and implement our forecast models for Australian carbon market fundamentals, and carbon offset prices.

Looking to join the low-carbon transition?

We are looking for an analyst to join our Australian carbon market and advisory team. Based in Melbourne, the role will work to develop and implement our forecast models for Australian carbon market fundamentals, and carbon offset prices, including analysis of:

• demand side market influences (emissions projections, greenhouse gas abatement costs, sectoral decarbonisation pathways, technology uptake and behavioural factors)
• supply side market influences (carbon offset project pipeline, technical and realisable carbon sequestration potential, supply side costs and timing)
• specific policy settings (national and regional targets, compliance policy, other incentive schemes, etc); and
• market prices and dynamics (e.g. simulation of market/policy rules, behaviour, trends, etc.)

You will have strong analytical, research, and modelling experience, along with either:

• a bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, or a relevant science and a minimum of 2 years of technical / scientific analysis, modelling, or trading experience; or
• a research degree (Master’s or higher) in engineering, physics, chemistry, or a relevant science, as well as demonstrated understanding of industrial systems.

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in business/economics (or similar) will also be strongly considered.

Exposure to the Australian / global carbon market (or related energy markets), or climate and energy policy, will be strongly favoured.

Our work is built upon large sets of numerical data, so advanced skills in Excel will be essential to collate and analyse datasets and produce well-informed research insights.


• Modelling and forecasting of carbon market fundamentals (supply, demand) and price interactions to support RepuTex’s advisory customers.
• Detailed technical research such as technology uptake rates, costs, sectoral and economic trends, and so on.
• Creation of research content including charts, graphs, forecasts and other quantitative content, along with qualitative analysis and outlooks
• Delivery of bespoke analysis and modelling for public and private sector advisory customers

Knowledge & Skills:

• Proficient in identifying, gathering, and analysing data. Ability to recognise trends and provide recommendations and develop logical conclusions.
• Strong knowledge of mathematical, statistical, and modelling concepts and research methods
• Strong Excel skills
• Knowledge of carbon markets and related emissions reduction policy
• Good understanding of market dynamics, modelling, and forecasting, with experience in similar markets, e.g. gas, coal and carbon
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to work and contribute within a team environment.
• A relevant qualification in Science, Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Commerce or Economics
