California’s Air Resources Board (ARB) handed out around 416,000 offsets in the last two weeks, a below-average issuance round that boosted total supply to date to nearly 38.9 million.
This fortnight’s awards were slightly below the regulator’s average issuance of 686,000, with a mean 730,661 handed out per round so far this year.
ARB handed out the bulk of the units, some 377,000, to three new ozone destruction projects operated by Reclamation Technologies, EOS Climate and Wabashco LLC.
Smaller awards totalling nearly 38,000 credits were given to three livestock methane projects, while a forest project got 7,313 units.
Separately, ARB shortened the invalidation period on just over 100,000 offsets from eight to three years.
ARB-issued units can also be used for compliance in Quebec’s carbon market.
