About the role
An exciting time to join the Carbon Solutions team in this newly created Manager – Carbon Policy & Markets role is now available. This role will leverage policy and market frameworks to maximise the value of Santos’ carbon activities. The role is Adelaide based, and relocation will be offered to those who are inter-state.

Reporting to the General Manager, Carbon Solutions, this position will also manage carbon and environmental market monitoring, advising on current and future trends.

Accountabilities are delivered in-line with the Santos company values. Key responsibilities of the role include (but not limited to):
• Driving Santos’ advocacy for policy and market environments to deliver competitive carbon projects and market activities globally.
• Building and managing relationships with stakeholders that influence carbon markets, including but not limited to industry associations, non-government organisations and relevant levels of government.
• Negotiating frameworks that unlock value from existing carbon ventures and enable new ones.
• Driving step change reductions in cost of supply for carbon projects by leveraging relevant policies, methods, standards, and regulations.
• Delivering carbon and environmental market monitoring, advising on current and future trends that will influence Santos’ decisions in carbon markets.
• Managing relationships with relevant carbon market stakeholders to ensure Carbon Solutions has information and intelligence to make timely, value-accretive decisions.

About you
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline: law, economics, commerce, politics, coupled with significant years’ experience managing domestic and international political and/or regulatory environments.

You will bring proven advocacy experience on climate-related matters and carbon markets globally, as well as, working knowledge of current climate policies related to the resource sector and carbon market policies that influence carbon project development.

You will display strong leadership skills with an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and staff in other departments being able to draw on your strong networks within Santos.
