The European Commission will release preliminary verified EU ETS emissions data and compliance information for 2015 starting on Friday Apr. 1, the 28-nation bloc’s executive said on Monday.

The procedure will be as follows:

  • On Apr. 1 at 1200 Central European Summer Time (CEST) (1100 BST, 1000 GMT), the European Commission will grant unlimited access to installation-level 2015 verified emissions data on the European Union Transaction Log (EUTL) website. The data will also be published at the same time in an Excel spreadsheet on the Union Registry page of the Commission’s website. Access to this data will be granted irrespective of the amount of data submitted by scheme participants. No aggregate data or interpretation will be made available.
  • On May 2 at 1200 CEST, the Commission will grant unlimited access on the EUTL website to the quantity of allowances surrendered per installation for 2015, as well as the installation-level compliance code, setting out whether an operator surrendered the required amount based on the data available on Apr. 30. The compliance information data will also be published at the same time in an Excel spreadsheet on the Union Registry page.

In the third phase of the EU ETS (2013-2020), international credits, namely CERs and ERUs, are exchanged for EUAs rather than used directly.

As such, the Commission will also publish a regulatory update on May 2 at 1200 CEST setting out the aggregate number of international credits that has been exchanged for allowances by Apr. 30.
