Experience Requirements: The Office of Global Change in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs at the U.S. Department of State is sending out this informal call for expressions of interest for a potential role in the Office of Global Change (OES/EGC) that would provide substantive assistance to the Climate Change Transparency Team at a junior level (2-4 years work experience).
Those expressing interest should be U.S. citizens able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and should have:
- Strong familiarity with the UNFCCC, Paris Agreement and other multilateral and bilateral climate change agreements, especially with respect to the issues of reporting and review (i.e. transparency), mitigation and carbon markets;
- Experience developing or analyzing greenhouse gas emissions inventories and/or UNFCCC transparency reports and/or experience related to carbon markets is highly preferred.
EGC develops and implements approaches relating to international climate change policy; coordinates United States participation in bodies dealing with climate change science and climate change policy; and leads interagency processes in preparing and representing U.S. positions in negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), as well as other international negotiations related to climate change.
