Energy Practice Summary: Navigant Consulting’s Global Energy Practice enables energy companies, governments and regulators to anticipate the changes and to meet the challenges of transforming global energy markets. Our consultants are all dedicated energy specialists, are highly qualified and collectively combine substantial operational experience with deep profession-based skills. Together, we possess an extensive understanding of each aspect the energy supply chain including operations, regulation and policy. We combine strategy and transformation consulting, economics, technical and finance capabilities to deliver a full range of advisory services to our clients.

Managing Consultant – Energy – Abu Dhabi

Subject Matter

  • Experience with utility operations technology like Water/Electricity SCADA, Distribution Management System (DMS), AMI, and Smart Grid technologies
  • Clear understanding of security requirements for utility operations environment
  • Relevant industry experience in development of functional or technical systems specifications, preferably with utility sector experience or relevant IT implementation background
  • Working knowledge of technologies associated with Grid modernization, including advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), distribution automation, communication networks, utility software systems GIS systems, and CIS systems including customer billing

Technical

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in engineering, preferably with a focus on electrical, and/or electronic engineering
  • 10+ years’ experience in utility industry related activities
  • Ability to analyse and develop use cases
  • Demonstrated business process analyst skills related to utility systems
  • Ability to corelate dependencies across large smart grid programs
  • Expert level proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office suite of products

Self & Project Management

  • Set priorities and organize tasks
  • Take responsibility for effective delivery of specific parts of a project
  • Assist/guide junior team members in executing assigned tasks
  • Assist with project administration

Business Development

  • Support business development by being actively involved in development of proposals and presentations
  • Find innovative ways to deliver content visually via graphics and other tools

Team

  • Openly share techniques, methodologies and approaches to expand team knowledge
  • Identify personal knowledge and skill gaps and strive to close them

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of post-graduation professional experience
  • Master’s degree in Science or Engineering or related discipline(s), preferred
  • High degree of self-confidence and determination
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness
  • Ability to travel and work flexibly
