ICIS, the leading global carbon markets data & research provider, is looking for a Lead Analyst – North American Carbon Markets. Ideally, the position is based in Houston, Texas or New York City.

The Lead Analyst is responsible for structuring, coordinating and executing all of our North American Carbon content, including qualitative and quantitative analysis. This includes leading a small team of analysts and journalists.

The ideal candidate will be a tireless, proactive analyst who is able to quickly process how policy or regulations could impact a market. Passion for the field and self-motivation will be crucial in directly helping companies make key decisions on how to navigate through the world of emissions trading and reduce their carbon footprint.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead our North American Carbon Markets team, overseeing both the editorial and analyst teams
  • Responsible for our Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) and Western Climate Initiative (WCI) analytics products, both designing and delivering regular reports, ad-hoc analysis and data publications
  • Responsible for the upkeep and future development of the North American carbon price forecasting models
  • Initiate and lead potential new product developments within the carbon analytics product
  • Manage and develop an international team of analysts
  • Act as the bridge to the wider energy analytics team in Europe and China
  • Act as a main point of contact for our diverse client base and effectively communicate our analysis to clients and other market participants
  • Attend market-related events and speak on webinars or at conferences in front of large groups
  • Support both internal sales and marketing teams to promote North American carbon products

Qualifications:

  • Previous relevant professional experience (3-5+ years) in the environmental/energy sector
  • Analytical mind-set, critical thinking, and affinity to energy markets
  • Strong understanding of the North American Carbon Markets
  • Strong data handling skills
  • Excellent writing and communicative skills
  • Excellent project management and people management skills
  • Proactive approach and ability to steer projects at one’s own initiative
  • Must have obtained a degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in a relevant field
  • Willingness to travel regularly to conferences and office locations in London and Germany
