Primary purpose of this position:

  • Account manager for carbon farming clients including overseeing project maintenance and landholder relationships.
  • Assisting to complete project due diligence and viability assessments and supporting the Head of Origination as required with business development.

  • After a period of successful growth and diversification, Climate Friendly has restructured to focus on its Australian carbon project business.  It is currently one of the largest developers of carbon projects in Australia, with approximately 80 carbon farming projects under management.
  • Climate Friendly has a target of reducing emissions by 25 million tonnes by 2020 and 100 million tonnes by 2025.

Key outcomes/ accountabilities:

Include but are not limited to:

  • Account management for up to 20 carbon farming clients including providing the first point of call for clients.
  • Managing project maintenance including quarterly reporting by clients, responding to landholder questions and maintaining monthly communication with clients.
  • Following the handover of a project after an initial site visit, assist with the project due diligence and viability assessment.
  • Meeting clients on-site once per year.
  • If required, conducting field work as part of due diligence of potential carbon farming projects.
  • Support the audit and reporting team during project audits and reports.

Selection Criteria

Knowledge Skills & Experience:

Include but are not limited to:

  • Experience working with landholders or in rural Australia.
  • Background in agriculture, science or stakeholder/project management.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a small team and contribute to group problem solving.
  • Availability to travel to remote and regional Australia.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to translate complex projects into simple messages.
  • Experience using GIS programs such as QGIS and ArcView a plus.
  • Some experience working on climate change matters considered useful, but not essential.
