BP is looking for a Power and Carbon Analyst to join its Climate Change and Sustainability Technology (CC&ST) team based in its southwest London International Centre for Business & Technology. As part of a small but high impact global team, you will provide insightful electricity and carbon risk management analytics to BP. You will support in positioning the team as a global centre of excellence on Power and Heat whilst shaping BP’s strategy for a lower carbon energy transition.

Key accountabilities

Your Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering key elements of a power research program
  • Creating strategic/commercial/analytical tools for power and carbon risk solutions;
  • Super-user, maintaining, developing and managing BP’s global energy systems model.
  • Providing energy transition and carbon scenario analytics;
  • Providing thought leadership in power/heat sectors to internal strategy groups;
  • Shaping the BP narrative for the lower carbon energy transition;
  • Working closely with 3rd party expert service providers;

Essential Education

You will be educated to degree-level or higher – preferably in economics, operational research, mathematics, science or engineering,

Essential experience and job requirements

To apply you should be knowledgeable about the current and future power outlook around the world, with broad experience in many areas ( electricity generation and storage technologies, value chains, market analysis and structures/design, infrastructure, consumers, policies and regulations). You should understand and appreciate climate change and its impacts on the energy sector and you could have experience in carbon risk assessment and management. You will have proven and deep analytical experience with skills, including advanced MS Excel/VBA knowledge, and ability to assess and present data and information. Highly professional and a self-starter, you’ll need to have written and verbal communication skills to write effective executive briefings and influence senior audiences.
